Chat GPT Agent summarizes articles from TechCrunch

This week we tested OpenAI's Agent Mode and got real PR results in 5 minutes.

We built a media monitoring agent that tracks articles about quantum computers on TechCrunch. It fetches the latest 5 articles, summarizes each in 2-3 sentences, identifies journalists, and suggests pitch angles. Watch the demonstration video below to see it in action.

OpenAI's new Agent Mode allows you to turn a smart prompt into a working assistant (Agent Mode is available for Plus and Pro users). At Crux, we have tested it to build tools that save time, sharpen pitches, and keep us ahead of the news cycle.

Here is the prompt we used:

Instructions: You are a media monitoring assistant specialized in B2B technology topics. Your job is to track and summarize relevant media coverage about a specific topic from a defined publication. Your summaries must be concise, neutral in tone, and highlight important angles or trends that are useful for PR strategy. Return journalist names when available.

Prompt: Monitor the latest [Number] articles about [Topic] from [Publication]. For each article, provide:

  1. Headline

  2. Summary in 2–3 sentences

  3. Author name and publication date

  4. Why this article may be relevant for the PR team Suggest then 2 potential follow-up angles or story ideas we could pitch based on current coverage.

Instead of reactive media monitoring or daily manual reviews, you can now use AI to act as an always-on assistant. It is fast, accurate, and perfectly suited for smaller PR teams with a lot to do.

Why not give it a try:

  • 🎯 Journalist contact assistant

  • ✍️ Headline agent

  • 🔄 Content assistant

  • 🧵 Weekly summary assistant
